Antigua Trip - Day 4 - New Resort Arrival
Now we're sharing the same dream
And our hearts, they beat as one – Caribbean Queen (Billy Ocean)
A group of us started the day with breakfast again at Mario’s. Yes, I got another omelet in case you were wondering. After breakfast, we finished packing up and met in the lobby to switch resorts. We were transferring to Elite Island Resorts, The Verandah. But first, we had plans to tour a different Elite Island Resorts property, Galley Bay.
As soon as we pulled up to the resort, you could feel how natural and airy it was, and that vibe is interwoven through each part of the resort. The check-in area is across the bridge from the rest of the resort. You can walk it, and they also have golf carts to take you across.
This resort was stunning. Every time we went to a new room type or a different part of the resort, I fell more in love with this resort. One major difference I noticed is this resort gave you what you’d expect for a Caribbean experience. Lots of touches of nature throughout every part of the resort, even the spa! This resort is in the middle of the road as far as being social. It’s not as remote as some other resorts are, but it’s not a party resort either. If you want to be social, there’s live music with a dance floor every night. This resort has a big following with the resort having families that have returned 20+ times!
After we ended our tour at Galley Bay, we journeyed to The Verandah to check-in for the rest of the week, eat lunch at the Beach Grill, and get a resort tour of our home for the next few days. The first thing I noticed is that this resort is quite spread out, but I like that because you can opt for a room that is closest to the area that you will utilize the most whether that be a specific pool or near the beach. My room was right across from the main pool and that was perfect for me, because that’s also near the coffee shop and main restaurant.
The Verandah is an all-inclusive, adult only resort. This resort is great for groups! They do have some event spaces available, and we saw one group that was in town doing a fun sleepover themed event in one of the spaces equipped with those fancy child sleepover tents.
After the tour, we all got settled and unpacked, took naps, and got ready for dinner at Portofino, which is the Italian restaurant on property. I adore any place that I can get gnocchi, so this was a win in my book. After dinner, we went to the Wavy Wicket which is their sports bar. We ended up there for a bit every day. It’s a very relaxed atmosphere. I didn’t last super long this night though, because I was so exhausted from the two resort tours in the heat.
