Antigua Trip - Day 9 - Departure
Just know you're not alone

Today was departure day. One last refresher before breakfast, one last pet of the resort cats before grabbing my luggage, and then we were on our way! The airport is not very big, and the food service and shop lines were long, and service was slow. I don’t know if this is typical of the airport, but it was a Sunday. We landed in Miami and our luggage took forever. It’s important to note this when booking your flights to make sure that you have enough time because you still must go through customs. Customs didn’t take more than 20 minutes. I had more than enough time, but had my flight been on time, it might have been cutting it closer than I’d have been comfortable with. My flight kept getting delayed later, so I had time to eat, which was great since I didn’t eat in Antigua. I figured I’d find something close to my gate, but for some reason my flight was out of the few American Airline gates in a completely different section of the airport. It was a trek, and my options were two over-crowded sports bars or Pizza Hut, so I grabbed a personal pan pizza, tried to take some cheese off and sat on the ground to eat it. This area of the airport did have the best space for holding people with delayed flights.
Our flight finally started to board, and right before the agent was about to scan my phone, they paused boarding. Eventually, we found out it was because a baby had an accident while boarding so we had to wait for rows to be cleaned. It paused boarding for over 30 minutes so it must have been a mess in there.
I finally arrived home in Orlando and was reminded how lucky I am to call Orlando home. I have been living back in Orlando since 2018, and I can’t believe I get to call this city home. It makes coming back from trips much easier when you get to go to Disney while you are at home!
