Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Movie Night

When you smile and you sing
Everything is in tune and it's spring
And life flows along
— With a Smile and a Song (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs)

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a movie I have seen many times as it was my grandpa’s favorite Disney movie.  It also is used so many times in Disney specials as it is the first Disney animated movie.  I have attempted to watch the Disney animated movies in chronological order many times in my life and then there’s a big pause usually due to a move and I start over, so I’ve watched this one many times as an adult.

I’ve posted my favorites in the graphic above, if you’d like to create your own graphic, feel free to use this template!

I thought it would be fun to mimic “Live Tweeting” as a blog post while watching the movies, so enjoy my thoughts below.

  • 5:53 PM Classic Disney movies open with such majestic overtures and I’m here for it.

  • 5:54 PM The use of the accent letter colors in the book being the colors from Snow White’s dress is a nice touch.

  • 5:59 PM Why does the Prince think he can just jump a wall and not freak Snow White out?  Stranger Danger!

  • 6:00 PM Wait, why does Snow White run away frightened but then instantly fall for the Prince as soon as he starts singing?

  • 6:05 PM Why am I getting so annoyed at the Evil Queen’s plan for the huntsman to kill Snow White, but I’m admiring her eyeshadow at the same time?

  • 6:15 PM Why are all these animals so darn cute? I can’t even pick a favorite, but I wouldn’t be sad if a chipmunk decided to snuggle on my lap.

  • 6:20 PM Forget Hogwarts, where can I enroll in Disney Princess school so I can specialize in speaking to animals and influencing them to help me with household chores?

  • 6:24 PM This scene gives me vivid memories of my childhood of Heigh-Ho being on one of my singalong song videos.

  • 6:28 PM This poor turtle has got trampled at least twice in this movie already.

  • 6:35 PM Dopey doesn’t make a sound, but yells when scared of “the monster”?  Confusing.

  • 6:50 PM That’s a lot of “seven” in one sentence from the Mirror. “Over the seven jeweled hills, beyond the seventh fall, in the cottage of the Seven Dwarfs”

  • 6:53 PM This queen to witch transformation always reminds me of the movie they showed in the “Magic of Disney Animation” at Hollywood Studios back in the day.

  • 7:17 PM Again, that poor turtle getting trampled!  Justice for the turtle!

  • 7:20 PM I think Walt had something against turtles…Why does the turtle keep getting trampled?

  • 7:23 PM The dwarfs being sad was emotional, but the animals mourning is even sadder for me.

  • 7:27 PM What happens to Snow White’s kingdom?  She was already a princess, and the queen died; Do they combine kingdoms?
