Pinocchio Movie Night Beverages

Hi-diddle-dee-dee

An actor's life for me - Hi-Diddle-Dee-Dee (Pinocchio)

It’s time to reveal what cocktails and mocktail I created to pair with Pinocchio.  For those that are new here, I create food and beverages for Disney animated movies and I’m going through them in chronological order.

Let Your Conscience Be Your Guide

I grew up in the Midwest where ice cream cocktails were all the rage when my parents were going out to bars.  While they aren’t popular anymore, I knew I wanted to do a twist on a classic Grasshopper cocktail since Jiminy is a Cricket.

Recipe

.5 oz Vanilla Vodka

1 oz Mozart White Chocolate

3 Scoops of Mint Chip Ice Cream

2 handfuls of ice

Directions: All you need to do for this one is add all ingredients to the blender and blend!

I recommend getting a Mint Chocolate Chip that is green so that you get that color, but I know so many ice cream brands are switching to white mint.  You can always use food coloring if you are missing out on the green.  You can also make this without ice, but I liked the extra texture it gives to the drink and then it’s less like a shake.

Wish Upon a Star

I wanted to make a blue drink for this movie due to the Blue Fairy.  This shot came easy to me, but it did take some experimentation to get the ratio tasting correct.

Recipe:

¾ oz Lemonade

¾ oz Kinky Blue

Pinch of Gold Luster Dust

Directions:

  1. Combine liquor in cocktail shaker with ice

  2. Shake ingredients

  3. Pour into shot glass

  4. Add Gold Luster Dust

No Strings

For a mocktail, I wanted to do something as a nod to Italy which is where the original story is from so, I did a twist on an Italian soda and the colors of the flag of Italy.  This is a super simple recipe and has lots of room for customization to your flavor preferences.

Recipe:

5 oz Sparkling Water (I used Bubly Blackberry)

1 oz Monin Syrup

Directions: If you want the layered look, make sure you follow these steps

  1. Fill the glass with ice

  2. Put the Monin on the bottom

  3. Put Bubly on top

To drink it, it’s best to have it stirred to mix, but for the look the layered is nice.

The flavors I used were Blood Orange, White Peach, and Kiwi.  I picked them mostly for the colors, but I did read while I was researching that Blood Orange is an Italian flavor.  As I mentioned, this recipe is highly customizable.  You can select different syrup flavors or a different flavor of sparkling water.  I thought about doing different Bubly flavors to pair with each flavor of syrup, but I had Blackberry in the house already (It’s my favorite flavor).

Cheers, all!
