Virgin Voyages - Day 2 - At Sea
I like mine with lettuce and tomato
Heinz 57 and french fried potatoes — Cheeseburger in Paradise (Jimmy Buffet)
The next morning, I woke up and decided to check out “The Galley”, I was surprised at how many options there were for breakfast. I was on a mission though, I had seen that they offer customized omelets and since I'm anti-cheese, I love it when I can get a cheese-less omelet! The group I was with decided to explore the ship after breakfast and I'm so glad we did that because I'm not sure I would have made my way out to all the sections of the ship! The highlight for me was the view from the running track (which is uncovered allowing for beautiful ocean views) and finding a random Twister board painted on the ground outside of the basketball courts. I also love a comfy place to scroll my phone so the amount of seating there is all over this ship made me very happy.
After getting rained on and hiking all over the ship, some of us opted to go grab some lunch in the same place we had breakfast, “The Galley”. Again, so many options! There are so many different kiosks with different types of cuisine to pick from and I love that each station as a special of the day, so if you find a spot you love, they will have something different each day if you want to switch it up. I opted for a burger, because I must check out the burger quality at every place I go! The burger was delicious, but the star was the FRIES. They quickly became a group favorite, and someone always had fries every day after that! I was also keeping an eye on a kiosk we discovered during our ship tour named "Pops and Bubs" which was a champagne and popsicle kiosk. This sounded like something I absolutely needed to try. They had peach as a flavor, and I was immediately sold. The crew member told me the champagne I got was too fancy to pour on the popsicle, so she gave it to me separately. I sort of wanted the novelty of it in the same cup, but I was excited either way. The popsicles were creamier than a normal popsicle which made eating it a quick experience.
After lunch, I came back to the room to rest and was surprised to find a bottle of champagne on my dresser. I'm still not sure where this even came from! I decided to snuggle in my bed and watch the latest "Haunted Mansion" movie which I've been dragging my feet on watching, because I still feel burned by the Eddie Murphy version that came out in 2003. Then, the previews made this one seem like it was full of jump scares, which I don't handle well. I ordered some popcorn and gummy bears via room service and watched the entire movie, which I really enjoyed. It's not at all what I was expecting.
We had a late dinner reservation this day, so we decided to check out some entertainment on the ship. We got seats for the show called "Dual Reality". I really had no idea what to expect, I didn't research it ahead of time. It ended up being a take on "Romeo and Juliet" told through stunts and acrobatics. I found myself giggling a few times throughout the show because some of these stunts were stunts I had done myself in cheerleading and I had some crazy flashbacks. One flashback was that I'm glad no one sprained their thumb catching their flyer like I did (That's a story for another day!).
Our dinner was at “GunBae” this night. I knew it was a Korean BBQ type restaurant from friends that had sailed previously, so I knew I was going to love it. What I didn't expect was HOW interactive it was. Before the appetizers were served, the server led us in a drinking game involving numbers which did not end well for me. But don't worry, if you aren't a drinker, you can still play and won't feel pressured. They served us EVERYTHING on the menu from appetizers, small plates, and all the entrees. It was quite a lengthy experience, so it's a place to sit and relax and not be in a rush to get to anything to after.
We went to listen to some live music after dinner at "On the Rocks" which is a martini and cocktail bar. Live music and a passion fruit flavored cocktail could be in one of my top 10 happy places. It was the perfect way to end Night 2!
